Rocket Reaves talks about Snowboarding Back in the day

In 1989 Rocket Reaves was a scrawny teenager. Everything was happening that year,
big World Cup events in Europe, halfpipe was coming into its own as a serious
discipline. When the entire snowboard scene converged on Durango, Colorado for the
World Cup Qualifiers, the unassuming teenager living with his mom in Durango made a
bold move. He invited the riders over for a party.

The party had a mini ramp in the basement, booze and music upstairs. These are the
moments that make up greatness. Rocket Reaves' snowboarding career was the perfect
compliment to that party - large and in charge. Rocket grew to be a hulk of a man,
over 6 feet tall and strong as an ox. Rocket needed all that power for the huge
lines he would draw on exposed Alaskan faces. The partying never stopped, either.
For better or worse. Rocket Reaves is part of snowboarding. He's a part that is
instrumental in how you and I enjoy relate to big mountains and how to ride them.
Thanks Rocket, people like you are more important than you can imagine! BK
