After perfecting the basic flat-ground maneuvers, many snowboarders venture into a specialized obstacle course known as the terrain park. The terrain park houses a variety of obstacles, including boxes and handrails. When attempting the 50-50 grind for the first time, choose a lowered handrail that features a square shape. As opposed to a circular snowboarding rail, the square rail allows you to balance on a level platform. ABC-of-Snowboarding recommends keeping your shoulders parallel to the handrail while performing the 50-50 grind

anyone who renders a rail or any obstacle un-rideable is a cop or a kook and should be banned from snowboarding. Josh Kalis did not make Love Park unskateble so people could not copy his tricks.
