Jibbing and Rail Riding

Rail riding (also known as jibbing or Grinding) is a technique in snowboarding where the riders will ride over rails and other like obstacles, both man-made or natural, typically in a park or urban environment. Freeride snowboarders also commonly find incidental jibs, such as a downed tree, that prove suitable to ride over in the course of their line or run.

Yesterday, while I was talking with Pierre Wikberg about who his favorite top ten skateboarders are. He literally forgot all about Mr. Drake Jones. Drake Jones was born in the Mission District of San Fransisco. After the age of 13, he moved to New York City. His first sponsor was Think Skateboards which is based on the West Coast. After that he became sponsored by Real Skateboards, Independent Trucks,  Van Shoes, and Spitfire Wheels.

Tony Alva was born in 1957, in Santa Monica California. In 1968, Alva got his first surfboard and skateboard and developed a passion for surfing, skateboarding and rock-n-roll. In 1972, he joined the legendary Z-Boys skateboard team along with Jay Adams and Stacy Peralta. Alva later went on to win the Men’s World Overall Professional Skateboard Championship in 1977.
