High Tide mfg is Akasha Weisgarber, Gabe Langois and myself. The idea began over drinks with Gabe and Akasha to build a canadian snowboard brand that designs and builds boards in the mountains of British Columbia. The first step was a snowboard press which was built in the fall of 2013. The prototypes from the press were nearly a immediate success, my first board was an early model Hippy Slasher that I instantly fell in love with. Akasha and Gabe offered me the opportunity to join the crew in spring of 2014. Our aim is to build really high quality boards with an attention to detail that isn't possible in high production factories overseas. The boards are meant to become a prized part of our customers quiver. Brought out when the conditions are right and enjoyed for years to come. Many brands are producing boards that simply don't last or are marketed in a way as to feel outdated within a year. This simply isn't sustainable or ethical. Thankfully there is starting to be a trend of small production high quality goods being manufactured locally. High Tide is happy to be a part of that trend and we hope that people can see the value to that philosophy. Our goal for the season was to have a soft launch of the brand and our six board models. We have been really happy with the reception we have received so far and the feedback on our boards has been very positive. We are aiming to grow High Tide slowly and organically. Time will tell what is in store for the brand but we'll be enjoying the ride and shredding pow along the way.
